Meet Lucinda Delaney Schroeder
Lucinda in Her Evidence Room

Lucinda was born in a hospital overlooking a rice paddy, neither of which exists any longer. Born in the Philippines of military parents, she also lived in Nebraska, Spain, Virginia, Maryland, Utah, South Dakota, Wisconsin and New Mexico. Not a native of any of these places, she confesses to being the quintessential, "girl from nowhere."

She is a retired special agent who spent 30 years working in the law enforcement division of the US Fish and Wildlife Service. She holds a BA degree in Criminology from the University of Maryland. She's also a certified firearms instructor and a specialist in interviewing and interrogation techniques.

As a young agent, undercover work quickly grabbed her. She honed her skills so the crooks could honestly say that they never saw her coming. The undercover work she did in A Hunt for Justice was the result of years of working undercover in hunting camps, black market sting operations, smuggling rings and in cracking international schemes.

Throughout her career Lucinda worked hundreds of cases some in cooperation with other federal agencies such the FBI, IRS, BLM, BIA, ICE, and several foreign governments. For Lucinda, each case held its own excitement and mystery.

During her career she received recognition from the FBI, the IRS, and was once named one of the "Ten Top Employees" in the Fish and Wildlife Service.

Writing came after retirement. In 2004, Lucinda realized that she had a story to tell. In A Hunt for Justice, she explains how difficult and dangerous catching wildlife violators is, but adds that the risks are worth it. She describes her work as being a voice for wildlife who can't speak for themselves.

A Hunt for Justice is also about a woman who overcame seemingly impossible odds to achieve her goals. Her struggles were no different than what many women in today's workplace experience. In this sense A Hunt for Justice has become a source of inspiration and encouragement for anyone who wants to become all that they are.

Since its initial release in April of 2006, A Hunt for Justice has been enjoyed by hunters, conservationists, true-crime buffs, book clubs, and mystery readers. After reading A Hunt for Justice, the popular western author Tony Hillerman said the book is ". . . a true story that reads like a mystery."

Also, A Hunt for Justice has been selected by hundreds of book clubs as a good read with plenty of discussion points. Lucinda has given numerous presentations about her book, which includes a power point presentation of photographs that were used as evidence in the actual investigation.

Today, Lucinda continues to write. She teaches five on-line "how to" classes on writing in the crime genre.

Lucinda is a member of Outdoor Writers of America, numerous conservation organizations and SAVVYAUTHORS—a writing group.
